The intention of this app is to fulfill the need for a community based alerting platform. This app is not intended to be another chatting program, social network, or twitter replacement. Its purpose is to provide users with real time alerting (using push notifications) on events isolated to groups or geographic regions. For geographic region, this alerting will strictly be based on public safety events (Eg. Fire / EMS activity, and criminal activity). Such alerts are purposely short descriptions to bring end users awareness of public safety activity within their geographic regions.

The app is modeled after the concept of a public safety dispatcher (The name comes from their pronunciation of the word "Dispatcha"). Only trusted individuals will be able to create dispatches, which will always be based on verifiable fact.

The source of the information will be from vetted community members who are in a position of awareness of public safety events (Eg. Firefighters, EMTs, and members of law enforcement). There is a strict guideline in place to not distribute personal information directly.

Currently any vetting for dispatchers will be done by the development team. Should this app grow in popularity other highly trusted individuals will be granted this responsibility.

The target audience currently is individuals within Nassua and Suffolk Countys of New York. This will change as the app user base grows (to include other geographic areas).
